EVERY 7,500 MILES


OIL FILTER AND ENGINE OIL: REPLACE

Every 7,500 miles or every 12 months, whichever comes first.

  • Vital to maintaining/prolonging engine life
  • Keeps harmful engine-wearing deposits to a minimum
  • Genuine Volvo filters with high filtration capacity and two special
  • valves to reduce the risk of clogging
  • Special sealing gasket and precision-cut threads
  • secure the filter to prevent oil leaks.

COOLANT FLUID LEVEL: CHECK/ADJUST

  • Maintains proper operating temperature for longer engine life,
  • avoids possibility of dangerous overheating

SERVICE REMINDER INDICATOR (SRI): CHECK/RESET

  • Clears codes for next scheduled service

POWER STEERING FLUID LEVEL: CHECK/ADJUST

  • Helps assure smooth, responsive steering performance

TIRES: CHECK PRESSURE, WEAR AND CONDITION

  • Check spare tire pressure every two years.

BRAKE FLUID LEVEL: CHECK

  • Assures proper braking performance

 BRAKE PADS: CHECK WEAR

  • Worn-out pads will result in irregular braking, reduced stopping power and damage to rotors (discs).

ALL WIPER BLADES: CHECK

  • Insures good visibility for driving safety.
  • WASHER FLUID LEVEL: CHECK/ADJUST
  •  Assures fluid is available when needed

EVERY 15,000 MILES (15, 30, 45, 60, 75, 90, 105, 120, 135, 150)


BEVELGEAR: VISUALINSPECTION

All-wheel drive models only

  • Helps assure proper all wheel drive performance

CABIN AIR FILTER: REPLACE

Volvo recommends filter be replaced once a year or more often in heavy traffic or dirty/dusty areas.

  • Helps maintain cleaner environment inside the car
  • Filters pollen, road dust, spores and bacteria

PARKING BRAKE: CHECK/ADJUST

  • Assures proper cable tension is maintained

AT 30,000 MILES AND EVERY 15,000 MILES THEREAFTER


BATTERY: CHECK FLUID LEVEL AND MOUNTING

Check more frequently when driving in severe climates.

  • Determines power level and possible need for replacement

EVERY 30,000 MILES (30, 60, 90, 120, 150)


FUEL LINES: CHECK

At 90, 120 and 150 check for damage and leaks.

  • Assures against loss of fuel and poor fuel efficiency

BRAKE HOSES AND LINES: CHECK FOR DAMAGE/LEAKS

  •  Helps ensure against brake failure due to damaged hoses

EVERY 37,500 MILES (37.5, 75, 112.5, 150)


BRAKE FLUID: REPLACE

Recommended to be replaced every three years or 37,500 miles (if driven in mountainous or humid climates, every one year) at owner's request

  • Old possibly contaminated (with water) fluid could lead tobraking problems
  • Bleed system, fill with new brake fluid and pressure.

AIR FILTER CARTRIDGE: REPLACE

  • May be necessary to change more frequently when driving in dusty/dirty areas.
    New filter cartridge helps maintain proper engine operation
    characteristics.
  • Reduces engine wear by properly filtering harmful dirt and contaminants before air enters the engine
  • Maximizes fuel economy

 

AT 60,000 MILES AND EVERY 7,500 MILES THEREAFTER


STEERING/FRONT SUSPENSION: CHECK

  • Maintains integrity of steering and suspension components, and assures proper wear

REAR SUSPENSION: CHECK FOR WEAR

  • Maintains integrity of suspension components, and assures proper wear

DRIVESHAFT JOINTS: CHECK FOR WEAR/PLAY

DRIVESHAFT: CHECK BOOTS

  • Assures proper wear and that foreign matter does not contaminate drive shaft joints

PROPELLER SHAFT, PILOT BEARING AND

UNIVERSAL JOINTS: CHECK WEAR

AWD models only

  • Helps assure proper all wheel drive performance

EXHAUST SYSTEM: CHECK FOR DAMAGE/LEAKS

  • Maintains quiet operation and proper emission control

EVERY 60,000 MILES (60, 120)


SPARK PLUGS: REPLACE

Except engine VIN code 85

  • New spark plugs are specially designed and calibrated to provide optimum engine operation.
  • Engine is tested on special Volvo equipment after spark plug installation.

EVERY 75,000 MILES (150)


SPARK PLUGS: REPLACE

Engine VIN code 85

  • New spark plugs are specially designed and calibrated to provide optimum engine operation.

AUXILIARY DRIVE BELT: REPLACE

Except engine VIN code 85

  • Helps avoid belt failure while driving

 PCV: INSPECT CLEAN NIPPLE AND HOSES

Turbo models only except S40/V50

 Service interval after first service for all turbo models is

every 45,000 miles. No service required on engine VIN code 68.

  •  Maintains proper emission control

 FUEL FILTER: REPLACE

Fuel filter is not replaceable on models identified by engine

VIN codes 38, 39, 64, and 68.

  • Maintains clean fuel system and helps maintain engine operating efficiency
  • Avoids potential expense of replacement of fuel system components

TIMING BELT, TENSIONER AND IDLER PULLEY: REPLACE

All 5-cylinder models.

 Models identified by engine VIN codes 39 and 64 sold in

California, Massachusetts, Vermont, New York and Maine

are classified as PZEV vehicles. The timing belt and tensioner

replacement interval for these vehicles only is 15 years or

150,000 miles. For service intervals beyond 150,000 miles,

consult your authorized Volvo retailer.

Maximum replacement time interval for all engines except

engine VIN codes 39 and 64 is 10 years.
